The Confederation adopts World Day Against Child Labour

Responding to the activism of our union’s wonderful First Lady, I have today signed an Executive Directive that makes World Day Against Child Labour a holiday within the Confederation. This day is annually observed on the 12th of June. This directive shows our support of the International Labour Organization’s holiday, which was made to raise awareness of this critical issue.

Shockingly both the International Labour Organization and UNICEF have announced in their Child Labour: Global estimates 2020, trends and the road forward report that over a 160 million children are now forced into dangerous, education denying work. This alarming fact is made even more disturbing with the discovery that in the last four years, 8.4 million more children have been forced to work. This is unconscionable to all Humankind and we must make all efforts to eradicate Child labour across the world. The Vladastock Confederation fully supports the United Nation’s efforts to make sure that Children are in schools, not factories and mines.

May we all strive for a world where Children can enjoy the wonders of youth and fully enrich themselves in education.
