It started as a dream

Back in 2016 two friends, William and James thought why couldn’t the world be a more politically plural, bipartisan place? Free of the type of ugly politics that has poisoned the democracies of the World. They agreed to build a Micro-Nation where people of all political persuasions could be welcomed into a genuinely democratic union. Enlisting the help of their close friends they began the process of developing a Confederation of two states, the Pacific Union and Aovikland; with a central government to lead them both into a shared future.

In 2018 in a ceremony where the constitution was confirmed and signed by the Founders, the Vladastock Confederation was born.

Our Values

The Vladastock Confederation was founded on ideals of democracy and inclusiveness. That everyone around the world deserves free and open societies that allow all to achieve their potential.

We believe in equality, freedom of speech, freedom to choose who you love and freedom to believe in whatever faith you may choose. All of this without discrimination on the basis of nationality, race or gender.

These values grew into the Confederation adopting a World Federalist goal. Simply put we believe that we can unite all of humanity into a single family. A political system comprising of all nations, acting for the greater good of humanity through democracy. A system that can face the major challenges we face as a species whilst ensuring that no voice is denied.

The three States that currently make up this union are...

The Pacific Union:

The Pacific Union is a federal republic that imagines a combined Australian, New Zealand nation-state. it was dreamed up by William and is the primary state that the majority of Vladastockians choose as their residence. Most of whom are artists by trade or passion.

Aovikland:

Aovikland is a Constitutional Monarchy that was started by Archduke James and some of his university friends. It maintains a highly developed government system that is primarily guided by legal students.

The Kingdom of Ederlaand:

Formerly the Saarditian Democratic Republic, the Kingdom of Ederlaand is based in Wellington, New Zealand with territorial claims in the Cook Islands and the Dominican Republic. Founded in 2019 by His Excellency Governor-General Joseph Bredenoord, Ederlaand is identified as an elective Constitutional Monarchy.

Political Parties

There is currently one major political party, the Democratic Socialist Confederation Party (DSCP). Hailing from the Pacific Union; they lead both the state and the wider Confederation on its journey to World Federalism. The Party’s symbol is an owl (pictured below), in honour of the ancient Athenians who brought democracy to the world.

Our Flag

The Flag of the Confederation was designed with its new values of bipartisanship and unity. Over a month was spent designing, debating and discussing every aspect of the Flag.

The Red: Represents Left Wing politics; the placement of the colour on the left side of the Flag also symbolizes this.

The Blue: Represents Right Wing politics; its position on the flag further adds to its symbolism.

The White: Symbolizes our equality.

The Star: The eight-pointed star represents each of the eight Founders of the Confederation. It also represents the eight points on a compass, which symbolizes our global ambitions.

The Black: Symbolizes the unity that binds us all together, placed in-between the political sides.

The Stripe: Rising from the right corner to the Canton; the Stripe shows that the Confederation strives ever forward. It also halves the political sides into equal segments.
