May Day 2021

Today is International Workers' Day! All around the world, workers are celebrating their hard-won freedoms and protesting to achieve more. This day commemorates the martyrs of the Haymarket massacre; where brave workers faced off against the police, fighting for an eight-hour work day. At this protest, police murdered a protester and injured many others. This was followed by an unknown person throwing an explosive device which claimed the lives of seven officers and four protesters.

We must always remember that the rights many of us currently enjoy, the right to reasonable working hours, decent pay and dignity in the workplace were not handed down by bosses, but achieved through the tireless fighting of workers, unions, socialistic organisations and parties. This fight is still ongoing and we shall stand with all the peoples of the world in the struggle.

Both the Democratic Socialist Confederation Party and the Centre Alliance Party celebrates this great day, and extends their warmest solidarity to all the workers of the world. We shall prevail!
