Saarditia joins the Confederation and the Assembly is reformed

Great news citizens, the Saarditian Democratic Republic has decided to join the Vladastock Confederation as a member state. The Assembly on 29th of January unanimously passed a resolution allowing Saarditia to join, which was followed by the 19th Executive Directive issued by the Premier confirming their accession. They shall become a full member state on the 26th of April 2022.

HE Rt. Hon Phillip Bredenoord, State President of the Saarditian Democratic Republic had this to say on the momentous occasion “Since 2019, when our nation was founded, Saarditia’s political system evolved with the times. Ministers and Citizens came and went, our land claims even changed. But there was a goal that has stuck through Saarditia’s evolution: To increase and reach out to micronations in the Australasian-Pacific Region. It has been a long journey to seek long-lasting Austrian-Pacific micronations, and I thought that was it, until I saw the Vladastock Confederation, which was a collective of like-minded micronationalists dedicated to a common purpose. I am proud that Saarditia will be admitted to this Confederation, and I pray that our admission sees that more micronations in the region join us.”

This was followed by the Premier who stated “This is an incredible time for the Vladastock Confederation. Saarditia joins at a time when the Confederation seeks to expand in pursuit of global democracy. We welcome all citizens of Saarditia into our family of states and look forward to our shared future together. Long live Saarditia and Long Live our Confederation”.

However, Saarditia’s accession was not the only item of business on the Assembly’s agenda. The new Assembly Standing Orders was passed. These new orders represent a major component of this administration’s pledge to reform the Assembly. The key changes relate to how Assembly Members conduct themselves in debate, among the most prominent changes were the following.

37. The Chairperson is charged with maintaining the good order and respectability of all Assembly Sessions.

40. All Assembly Members must treat their fellows with dignity and respect.

41. The Chairperson may direct a Member to discontinue a speech if the Member persists in irrelevance or tedious repetition.

42. Racial, gendered, cultural or sexual insults are henceforth not allowed.

43. The Chairperson may order a recess of no longer than two days if they believe the quality of the debate has fallen below acceptable standards. A warning must be given by the speaker before ordering a recess, to allow Assembly Members to adjust their behaviour.

44. A Member may only speak once to a question, except during consideration in detail of any matter.

45. Attacks on the character or honour of a fellow Assembly Member shall henceforth not be allowed.

46. A Member shall not use offensive words against:

i. Another Member of the House; or

ii. A member of the Judiciary.

47. A Member shall refer to other Members by the title of office.

48. A Member may, at any time, raise a point of order relating to a breach of the Standing Orders or the practice of the Assembly which shall, until disposed of, suspend the consideration and decision of every other question.

It must be noted that the Archduke of Aovikland was a major contributor to these new standing orders and that the previous segment only represented a fraction of the great work he put in to make sure that our Confederation is a beacon of productivity and good governance, the Confederation owes him greatly.

Following this Assembly session an episode of World Lounge was recorded, which will be released in the coming days. Overall, this day represented a great start to the new year. Thank you to all of our citizens who helped make these proceedings a reality.

Onwards to our bright future.
