SAFE Act passed, and treaties ratified!
Today at nine pm Sydney time an Assembly session was held, where the Safe Advertising For Everyone (SAFE) Act was passed! Alongside this piece of legislation, the Assembly also ratified friendship treaties with the Rainbow Republic, United Republic of New Artemis and the Federation of Pangaea.
The SAFE Act represents a major policy achievement for the Democratic Socialist Confederation Party. It primarily bans the advertising of alcoholic beverages across Vladastock. It also follows Australia and New Zealand in enforcing plain packaging on all tobacco products. The act forces medical companies and corporations to inform consumers about the risks of potentially addictive medications.
However, the law does not end there! following the wise council of Supreme Court Judge George, the act requires Member States to provide Addiction Rehabilitation Programs to their citizens and residents. These programs will greatly assist those who have become addicted to drugs and alcohol, who have been misled by years of corporate advertising into believing that self-destructive behaviors are normal and acceptable. Finally, the act requires all medical practitioners who prescribe potentially addictive medications to first seek the approval of another medical professional and secondly to check in with their patients to ensure that they have not become addicted. This final requirement was approved by our outstanding Minister of Health Gobby.
After we passed this act, we ratified mutual recognition and friendship treaties with three Micronations! All of these nations align with our foreign policy goals of Democracy, Human Rights and Equality, which was outlined in our 2022 Foreign Policy White Paper. We are proud to be aligned with the Rainbow Republic, whose drive for Queer Rights and Equality is extremely commendable! We are also pleased to call the recently founded Micronation of New Artemis our friends, it is imperative that our community welcome those new states who wish to partake in this great hobby! Finally, we are delighted to start a friendship with the great Federation of Pangaea, whose vision of global unity fits naturally with our own.
To conclude the night, we finished the Assembly Session and settled in for a catch up. It was wonderful to hear from Sean and Jack. I wish to thank all citizens of Vladastock for making this night a possibility. In particular I would like to thank Deputy Premier Xavier, Health Minister Gobby, Supreme Justice George, Assembly Members Jack and Sean, High Chancellor Joseph and our wonderful First Lady Joyce for all their help and support. Without their tireless contributions the SAFE Act, and indeed this very Confederation would not exist.
