Third Place poem: Floating Gem

Floating in the endless blackness, rests a gem of unimaginable beauty

From the lush greens of Asia’s rainforests, to the stained gold sands of Africa; our world is a diamond amongst the ceaseless expanse of the cosmos; protecting this precious treasure is our duty.

To protect what we love, we must all embrace the idea of humanity united.

Dividing ourselves by nationality or creed is far too shortsighted.

Let us build and strive towards a world where all peoples are equals,

Repeal and arrest dictators, abusive princes and all who practice evil.

Educate every child and ensure no one goes hungry

Allow all to seek their own glory

No matter if they’re artists, diplomats or factory workers

Let them ignite their passions with resolute fervor

If we make these objectives our goals, and truly advance the rights of all

There is no way our cause can fall.

Our flag shall one day fly proud on every factory, palace and university

In so doing, the Vladastock Confederation will last for all eternity.
