New Laws pass, but Confederation set for Supreme Court battle
The DSCP today passed both the Human Dignity in Commerce Act and the New Fundamental Human Rights Act with an overwhelming super majority of the Confederation Assembly.
However, the state government of Aovikland has petitioned the Supreme Court with a writ of mandamus to stop the ascent of the laws pending a hearing to determine the legality of the two laws. The Confederation is set for its first major Supreme Court battle of the year and the stakes couldn’t be higher, this ruling will determine the very nature of the Confederation Government and what powers it has.
The Aovikland Government believes that the Confederation Government is not empowered to outlaw monopolies, and that such power is invested in the States. The Confederation Government however believes that the Constitution gives such powers to the Confederation to wield.
This hearing is to take place on the 27th of March, Gaia News will stay with this story as it develops.
