Reproductive Health Freedom Act passed, and foreign treaties ratified
Yesterday, the Vladastock Confederation Assembly met to pass the Reproductive Health Freedom Act; a law designed to enshrine the right to have an abortion into Confederation law. The law allows all citizens of the Confederation and persons visiting our union to terminate a pregnancy. It also outlaws Female genital mutilation, forced sterilization and forced virginity examinations. Furthermore, this law allows women to seek refuge within our union if they are fleeing a repressive regime that tramples on their reproductive rights.
This law was the by-product of weeks of debate and discussion amongst the members of the Democratic Socialist Confederation Party. In particular, Health Minister Gobby provided critical information and insight into this issue; we thank her for her efforts in making this law medically sound. Finally, we thank Assembly Members Sean, Jack and George for their input and their votes that made this law possible.
It is a sad reality that the Vladastock Confederation now has greater bodily liberties than the United States, a supposed land of the free. Indeed, the US Supreme Court’s draft opinion leak in May served as the catalyst for this law, as we wanted to ensure that Women’s rights would be respected across our Confederation.
After passing this act, the Assembly ratified a number of recognition and friendship treaties with other Micronations. These nations are as follows; the Empire of Lehmark which is based in southern Australia; the Sovereign Barony of New Kendal and the Confederation of Malus; both of which are American Micronations. We eagerly look forward to enjoying strong relations with this esteemed group of Micronations. Indeed, we are currently working with New Kendal and Malus in an intergovernmental religious liberty organisation, which promotes tolerance and Human Rights.
Finally, we recorded an episode of World Lounge; which will be released at a later date.
Overall it was a great day for Vladastock and the wider Micronational community.
