State of Xingu leaves the Confederation
Following a vote by their citizens, the State of Xingu officially left the Vladastock Confederation. Discussions on Xingu’s autonomy within the Confederation have been ongoing for a number of months. the leader of Xingu, André Chalegre stated that he wanted his state to have its own foreign policy and to make alliances with other nations.
With the Constitution placing the responsibility of foreign policy with the Confederation government, there was no way for the two sides to reach an acceptable compromise. Therefore the political leadership of Xingu decided to peacefully leave.
It should be noted that the Vladastock Confederation and Xingu remain strong allies. This parting was amicable; indeed, André had this to say about Vladastock “the Confederation helped me a lot when I had just left the Santiago Conference so I think that out of attachment to your project I always try to find a middle ground to keep myself this way”. As the Premier of Vladastock, here is my statement on the situation “Whilst it is regrettable to lose Xingu, I personally treasure the friendship between myself and André. My administration and myself wish Xingu every success as it continues to be a major driving force within the South American Micronational community”.
