10 year anniversary party!
Today, starting at 3pm Australian Eastern Standard Time we held a virtual party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our involvement in Micronationalism. The party was originally planned to be held in person, however a family emergency forced me to travel to Queensland; meaning we could not have a party in Sydney.
For the first hour, Supreme Court Justice George, Assembly Member Jack and myself caught up, played some online games together and did some karaoke. At around 4pm Deputy Premier Xavier joined the call and briefed us about the torrential rain in Hong Kong. With his arrival, I as Premier of the Confederation gave a speech commemorating this momentous milestone. The full text of the speech can be found below.
“Beloved citizens of the Confederation,
Last August the 28th marked the ten year anniversary of our involvement in Micronationalism. This last decade has been quite the adventure. We started in 2013 as school children; teenagers finding their place in the world. It all began with a small kingdom called Togrutia, before court intrigues saw the rising of the very originally named Utopia. Finally in 2014 the first version of Vladastock would arise. It was an Archduchy, a constitutional monarchy that would go through numerous different administrations, from all corners of the political spectrum.
However it would be in 2016 where things would really develop. We all saw the need for change and so over a few years we slowly built the foundations of the modern Confederation. We designed a flag, constructed a constitution and set ourselves the objective of spreading democratic values.
In 2018 we were ready. In a small apartment in the heart of Melbourne, we declared to the world a new nation. A new union dedicated to the highest ideals of liberty… The Vladastock Confederation.
We would act as a force for change in the world; A progressive movement dedicated to showing what could be. Unhindered by the constraints of the Marco world. We passed the Humanity’s Gambling Industry Act of 2020, that sought to minimise the damages of gambling globally and ensure the proceeds go back into their respective communities. Through debate and compromise we created the Human Dignity in Commerce Act in 2021, that imposes strict punishments on Corporations that violate Human Rights law, damage the environment or create monopolies. In the same year, we declared to the world that healthcare, affordable housing, welfare and access to tertiary education are inalienable rights, to be enjoyed by all peoples. These are but a taste of the legislation we have passed over the years and I am extremely proud of all our citizens that made each Act possible.
However, our efforts are not limited to laws. We have done donation drives for the hungry in Australia. Donated blood both within Sydney and Hong Kong and gave our support to those innocent civilians currently suffering in Ukraine. All under the banner of the Vladastock Confederation.
From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you all and thank you for joining me on this journey. I am so proud of how you have all developed over the years and how that change has made Vladastock a better place.
But as we celebrate, I believe this is the perfect opportunity to discuss changes. To suggest reforms and then act upon them. As we grow older, we must ensure that Vladastock remains relevant to us; that its benefits far outweigh any negatives. To this end, I call upon you all to reflect on what has worked and what hasn’t. Now is the time for change, and only with your help can we make that happen.
Because I believe our best days are ahead of us. In my mind we have only just begun. We have only scrapped the surface of our potential. With great people such as yourselves in our ranks, we are destined to make an impact. Let us march into the next ten years with courage and determination!
I love each and every single one of you. You are family to me! Congratulations again on this remarkable achievement and cheers!”.
Following this speech, we played Cards Against Humanity and some other online party games. It was truly wonderful to hear everyone’s news and have a catch up. Thank you to all the citizens of the Confederation for making this project the success that it is. Onwards to the next ten years!
